Haywood Street Church, Asheville, NC Interviews Trip 1

Matthew 25:39-41

39‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ 41

Holy Chaos! That is what happened at Haywood Street Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon and I loved it. I was humbled to get the chance to talk to homeless people about their walk with Christ, and see many being active in the Church. Without homes and conveniences, they come to serve week after week. It made me ponder,  with all the resources that most Americans have, what is our excuse for not doing more for our Church and communities?

Instead of being treated to watered down soups and scraps, Haywood serves a healthy full course meal, with table settings. It is all part of what is called “Radical Hospitality.” I was so touched by the love and service displayed.

Pastor Brian Combs was gone this week but I wil l be circling back to Asheville in February for an interview. Thank you David, Eric, Brian, Darryl and countless others who made me feel fully welcomed. We shall over come!.
